I’m Remsy and I’m a working filmmaker from Chicago & first-generation Syrian-American.
After spending 15+ years working as a commercial DP for advertising and brands I took the plunge to follow my dream and pursue the creation of feature films.
My first feature was the narrative film Bad Animal, an indie romance about following your dreams in the Chicago music scene. We premiered at the Tucson Film Festival and continued an extensive festival and award run that was a lot of fun and led me to learn the business of film distribution.
My second feature was a documentary released in 2025, The Legend of Kingdom Come, about comic book artist Alex Ross produced in collaboration with Comic Book Pros. It raised almost $500k on Kickstarter.
Starting in 2025 I began developing the community this site is built around, The Film Life. Part newsletter, part creator channel, part distribution company for my indie projects – TFL is about building a real film community in Chicago and beyond.
As of 2026 I am in post-production on a new feature doc That Polish Guy about the incredible artist Bill Sienkiewicz, as well as a slate of new original narrative shorts that are part of my ongoing The Inheritance Anthology. This will be a feature-length doc/narrative hybrid coming Spring 2027. The first short, The Wilted Flower, premiered at the Music Box Theatre in March 2026 to a sold-out audience and the second film The Great Balloon was funded by Chicago DCASE grants and is in post-production.
I still do work in commercials and advertising running a small team at RA Imaging, and otherwise spend my days on the northwest side of Chicago with my family and 2 dogs.
I’m always looking for ways to grow the channel so please reach out about collaborations, or if you have commercial projects visit RA IMAGING.
